Mike Simpson is the co-founder of The Interview Guys, the career-advice site he launched in February 2013 to help job seekers actually land the roles they want. Over the last 13 years, the site has reached more than 100 million job seekers worldwide, and Mike's particular focus is interview preparation: how candidates can actually answer the questions hiring managers really care about.
He holds a Business degree from Bishop's University (HR major, Economics minor) and is an active member of the Professional Association of Résumé Writers & Career Coaches (PARWCC) and the National Career Development Association (NCDA). His advice has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, and CNBC, and is referenced by career-services teams at the University of Michigan, Penn State, Northeastern, the University of Toronto, McGill, Wellesley College, and Kansas State, among others.
Articles credited to Mike on The Interview Guys are reviewed and edited by him personally to make sure the frameworks, examples, and recommendations match what actually works in real interviews.
Let’s clear up the confusion first, because it matters. “Coca-Cola” isn’t one hiring machine. It’s a cluster of independent companies, and each one screens differently. HireVue is formally confirmed at Swire Coca-Cola, a major bottler, where they run OnDemand Text and a Virtual Job Tryout for high-volume hourly jobs. CCEP (the European and Pacific partner)…
Club Pilates isn’t your average gym job. It’s a boutique fitness brand built on one simple idea, that Pilates should be for everyBODY, and the people who interview you can usually tell within minutes whether you actually believe that or you’re just reading it off the website. Here’s the good news. The bar to get…
Veolia North America is a big operation, and interviewing there feels like it. With more than 10,000 employees spread across more than 350 locations, the company runs water, waste, and energy services in nearly 500 cities, towns, and neighborhoods across the region. That scale means the roles vary wildly. You might be applying as a…
So you applied to Nestle and an email landed asking you to record a video interview. No live person, no back-and-forth, just you, a camera, and a short timer. That’s HireVue, and it’s Nestle’s first-round screen for most early-career and corporate roles. Here’s why it rattles people. Because nobody’s on the other end, candidates either…

The interview is explicitly behavior-based and…
Lidl runs one of the leanest, fastest retail models around, and that shapes everything about how they hire. Whether you’re applying to stack shelves and run a till as a Customer Assistant, lead a crew as a Store Manager, keep the supply chain moving as a Warehouse Associate, or crunch numbers as a Data Analyst,…
Feld Entertainment is the company behind the live shows you probably grew up with: Monster Jam, Disney On Ice, Supercross, and Ringling Bros. It’s privately held, family-owned, and headquartered in Florida, which means the culture runs on passion, teamwork, and a tolerance for the realities of touring life. That matters for your interview. Feld hires…
Whirlpool isn’t just the brand on your fridge or washer. It’s a global appliance company with a corporate HQ in Benton Harbor, Michigan, manufacturing sites across the country, and open roles ranging from software engineer to supply chain analyst to customer service rep. That range means your interview could look wildly different depending on where…
Mars sends you a HireVue link, and suddenly you’re staring at a camera with no human on the other end. That’s the one-way recorded video format: text or a short clip from a Mars employee poses a question, and you record yourself answering. No live interviewer, no back-and-forth, no reading the room. This trips people…
If you’ve got an interview coming up with Allina Health, you’re aiming to join one of the biggest nonprofit health systems in the Upper Midwest, with dozens of clinics and hospitals across Minnesota and western Wisconsin. That scale is good news for you, because it means the hiring patterns are predictable once you know what…
