Over the last 13 years, the site has reached more than 100 million job seekers worldwide, and Mike's particular focus is interview preparation: how candidates can actually answer the questions hiring managers really care about.
He holds a Business degree from Bishop's University (HR major, Economics minor) and is an active member of the Professional Association of Résumé Writers & Career Coaches (PARWCC) and the National Career Development Association (NCDA). His advice has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, and CNBC, and is referenced by career-services teams at the University of Michigan, Penn State, Northeastern, the University of Toronto, McGill, Wellesley College, and Kansas State, among others.
Articles credited to Mike on The Interview Guys are reviewed and edited by him personally to make sure the frameworks, examples, and recommendations match what actually works in real interviews.
You’ve got the skills. You’ve done the testing. Now you need to convince a hiring manager you’re the person they want defending their product’s quality every single day. QA interviews in 2026 are different from what they were three years ago. The role itself has shifted. Companies aren’t just looking for someone who can write…
Most candidates hear this question and feel a little nervous. They think the interviewer is trying to catch them admitting they need weekends off, or that they’re secretly looking for an easy job. We talk to hiring managers every day who tell us the same thing: they have no shortage of IT support applicants, but almost no one can speak confidently about the tools their company actually uses. You could figure it out, but you’re making it harder on yourself than it needs to be. Firestone is a Bridgestone Americas company with over 1,600 locations across…
Why This Question Trips Up Even Strong Candidates Most candidates hear “describe your experience working remotely” and think it’s a warm-up question. It’s not. Hiring managers who ask this are running a quiet skills audit. They want to know whether you can manage your time without someone looking over your shoulder, communicate clearly in writing,…
What a Hiring Manager Actually Thinks When They See This We talk to hiring managers every day who tell us the same thing: they’re drowning in applicants who list “machine learning” on their resumes but can’t explain how they’d deploy a model to production.
